Dr. Brinson a native of Atlanta, graduated from Spelman College and received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Georgia State University. Her career path has included being a teacher, School Psychologist and administrator. In 2009, she retired as Executive Director of the Office of Student Programs and Services in Atlanta Public Schools. She has served as a consultant to various organizations. Dr. Brinson has many professional affiliations and has presented at varied local and national conferences. Her civic activities are many; however, she is most proud of being a founding board member of the Metropolitan Atlanta Respite Services, which provides services to disabled individuals. She has received many commendations including the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of Black Psychologists, a testament to her servant-leader spirit. Dr. Brinson is a life-long “working” member at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church (PMBC). A significant recognition for her was the naming of the Dr. Arletta T. Brinson Youth Leadership Award in her honor. At PMBC she is or has been a part of the Usher, Trustee, Education and Youth Ministries. |
