Dereko Roberston is our Jobs for Life Instructor and Life Coach. Dereko is a gifted teacher and life coach helping our Jobs for life students succeed. One word to describe Dereko J. Robertson’s calling is “Empowerment.” He is a young man driven to increase the capacity of both youth and adults to make positive choices and ultimately transform those choices into world-changing actions. He is passionate about community outreach, youth empowerment, and most importantly, kingdom-building, and is dedicated to sharing the power and promises of God both inside and outside of the church walls. On April 20, 2008, Dereko ultimately accepted his calling to preach the Gospel under the mentorship of Pastor Michael W. Baldwin. On that day, his ministry advanced by leaps and bounds. In December of that year he accepted the position of Youth Pastor of Grace Community Christian Church, in Kennesaw, Georgia where he led the youth department, aided in the spiritual growth of the youth and oversaw the Christian education curriculum. On November 20, 2010, he was ordained as Associate Pastor under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Christopher Chappell. This reflective position birthed a newfound charge for community outreach and kingdom building. He has connected to Cobb Unite, where he helps to lead a targeted network of churches and community leaders in Cobb County who partner towards the goal of community transformation. He also mentors to Cobb County Schools and Atlanta Public Schools youth in addition to serving as former chaplain of the Kennesaw Mountain High School football team. Dereko currently serves as a church plant intern for Perimeter Church, serving both Shalom City Church and Restore Life. In addition, he is currently pursuing Master of Divinity and Master of Business Administration degrees from Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA). He thanks God daily for his beloved wife Melva and precious daughter Aria Jayde. He is committed to living as a testimony to the goodness of God and strives daily to let his light so shine before men that they may see his good works and glorify the Father in Heaven. - Matthew 5:16
